Start in the heart of the Village at Astor Place, 8th St. at 4th Ave. (By Subway: 6 train) Spin The Cube, the giant iron sculpture by Tony Rosenthal marking the center of The Village. Stop by Starbucks for an A-list latte.
Walk south to Matt Damon’s former abode at 439 Lafayette St. next door to Joe’s Pub, a favorite celebrity live music hangout.
Continue south to Crunch Gym, where you can see many village celebs sweating off the pounds. Continue on to West 4th St.
Go Right. Check out Britney Spears’ former 6,000 sq. ft. 4 floor penthouse at 14 East 4th St. The Silk Building has also been home to Tom Cruise, Cher, Nicole Kidman, Keith Richards and Rob Lowe.
Go west to Broadway to see Macaulay Culkin’s loft at 704 Broadway where the lobby’s ceiling is appropriately colorfully painted like a circus tent.
Double back and continue south on Lafayette to Lauren Hutton’s apartment at 382 Lafayette St.
A block south see the former home of Paper Moon star Tatum O’Neal at 27 Great Jones St.
Continue south to Houston St. See the Puck Building at 295 Lafayette where Meg Ryan had dinner with fiancee Bill Pullman before she decided Tom Hanks was the better match in Sleepless in Seattle. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner also live here.
Go south to 285 Lafayette Street, where David Bowie and his supermodel wife Iman shared a double $4 miillion penthouse apartments until his death in 2016. Gourmet cook Iman shops for groceries in nearby Little Italy.
Walk south on Lafayette to Prince Street, go right and walk west 1 block to Crosby and take a left. See Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelo’s former $9 million pad at 76 Crosby St. in a building where Nicole Kidman and Boris Becker have also lived.
Continue south a few steps and go right, to Balthazar at 80 Spring Street, one of NY’s top celebrity hotspots. You might even see Martha Stewart or Geraldo Rivera doing lunch. Check out the eligible bachelor/ette crowd at the ever crowded bar munching on the free olives and hard-boiled eggs.
Go east on Spring and take a right on Crosby. Go south 1.5 blocks to 30 Crosby St. home of rockers Lenny Kravitz and formerly Courtney Love. Nicole Kidman stayed here while work on her apartment was being completed.
Continue south to Grand Street then go left. Go two blocks to 161 Grand St. home of actress/director Sofia Coppola and formerly of her ex-hubby/director Spike Jonze.
Continue east to 240 Centre Street which has been the home of super models Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington.
Continue east to Ferrara Cafe at 195 Grand St. which was America’s first espresso bar. Have a sfogliatella and cappuccino while looking out for the many stars who drop in for Italian pastries, and rest up for your next walking tour. And don’t forget to take the cannoli.
